AAUA Rakes in over N100million from Sales of 2017 Post UTME Form

The Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko,Ondo State has raked a sum of N101,035,000 million from the sales of 2017/2018 post UTME exercise.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun disclosed that no fewer than 18,370 candidates registered for the exercise.

It was reliably gathered that each of the candidates paid a sum of N5,500 to obtain the form through the banks across the country.

But going by the admission capacity of the institution, a little over 4,000 candidates will be offered admission from the 18,370 candidates that applied for the 2017/2018 academic session.

During the 2016/2017 admission exercise, a total of 4,630 candidates ,representing about 26%, were admitted from the 17,739 candidates that sought admission from the institution.

Meanwhile, Prof. Ajibefun has commended the federal government for the reintroduction of the Post UTME exercise ,following cancellation of the exercise last year.

The VC ,while monitoring the conduct of the exercise at the University’s e-learning center noted that the merit driven admission policy of the institution would not be compromised.

“The restoration of the Post -UTME is a very good development. I had said it in the past that the cancellation of the screening test would negatively affect the admission process as well as reduce the integrity and quality of entrants into Nigerian universities.

“This year’s screening exercise is a great improvement upon the previous years. I’m highly impressed with the way it is organised this year. We have over 18,000 candidates taking the test here, and we take them 500 at a time. But the entire exercise is so smooth that you won’t even notice rowdiness as things are so well arranged that the place is not rowdy at all.

“The students are taking the test in a very good environment that is very conducive. And the results are always released by the evening of each day, and this does not give room for any manipulation at all,” the AAUA VC said.

Also speaking, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Ige, who is also the Chairman of the Committee on Post-UTME, stressed that AAUA places high premium on excellence, noting that the process of achieving academic excellence begins with the value a university places on her admission process.

“AAUA is known for excellence. Achieving excellence is a process that starts with the value an institution puts on its admission process. As a University, we do not only profess excellence, we demonstrate it, and demonstrating excellence involves ensuring that only the best candidates are admitted to the University. That is the reason the university continues to hold on to its merit-driven policy very firmly,” the DVC said.

Some of the candidates who spoke to The Politico described the exercise as smooth and well organized.

On his part ,Stephen Onwuka ,who wishes to study Computer Science said, “everything was well organized and monitored. The screening was really good.”

Also speaking, Mesioye Oluwatomisin, said the various facilities at the center were in order and effective .

“The screening was okay. I was able to provide answers to questions in the areas I read. The facilities are very good. I like the university and all my findings and the things I read about the school are great,” she concluded.
