The great Apple had been overtaken by the China's smartphone maker, Huawei, for the first time in June and July. This happens because Huawei surpassed Apple global smartphone sales for the first time in June and July to become world's second-biggest smartphone, while Samsung is behind.
According to Counterpoint research report, it shows that the global scale Huawei achieved was attributed to the consistent investment in R&D manufacturing and sales channel expansion.
Moreover, Huawei relatively weak presence in Indian, South Asian and North America markets could still limits Huawei's potential to take a second place position behind Samsung.
However, Apple was able to recover the second spot due to its imminent release of new range of iPhones, the development was described as significant milestone, with Huawei breaking the duopoly enjoyed by Samsung and Apple for the past 5 years.
Surprisingly, even as Huawei has surpassed the Apple in global sales, none of Huawei model appear on the top 10 smartphones on counterpoints. It was topped by iPhone 7 and 7 plus, Oppo's R11 and A57, followed by Samsung Galaxy S8, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.
