‘Army killed five Boko Haram commanders’

Fidelis Soriwei, Abuja

The troops of the Nigerian Army and the fighter pilots of the Nigerian Air Force have killed five top commanders of the Boko Haram Islamic sect.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, said in an electronic mail on Thursday that the five Boko Haram kingpins of Ameer category were killed alongside many other insurgents in a joint operation by the Army and NAF within the week.

The five top commanders who were killed in the operation, according to him, were “Abu Dujana, Man Tahiru (Deputy to the Boko Haram terrorists group Hisba leader), Man Chari, Mallam Abdullahi Abu Sa’ad and Goni Bamanga.”

He said, “Based on received information about the location of some suspected top Boko Haram terrorists’ leaders, the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force have been carrying out heavy artillery bombardments and air interdictions on registered targets that have killed a large number of Boko Haram terrorists including some of the group’s key leaders.”
