StarTimes hosted football fans in Lagos on Saturday to usher in the 2017/2018 Bundesliga season. The pay TV company has the competition’s exclusive broadcast rights in Africa.
The fans watched the Super Cup match between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, which ended 5-4 on penalties after a fierce 90 minutes 2-2 draw, at the Ikeja Shopping Mall.
The German top flight kicks off on August 18 with holders Bayern Munich hosting Bayer Leverkusen at Allianz Arena.
StarTimes Brands and Marketing Director Qasim Elegbede said, “The decision to host our football-loving customers serves as an opportunity for a face-to-face interaction and feedback, with stakeholders in a very relaxed and informal atmosphere.
“The pay TV industry is a high technology driven sector, hence there is a need to constantly interact with our consumers and business partners. There is no better way to do this than while watching the games they love, football and not just any kind of football but the German Bundesliga.”
One of the fans Nnamdi Eze expressed his joy at being able to bond with the company.
He said, “I feel very special. I have just been with StarTimes for only seven months and I am being treated like a king. The fact that I was invited to this party alone makes me love StarTimes even more. I feel appreciated.”
