When Kendrick Lamar dropped his DAMN. album in April, the stellar body of work comfortably sat atop the Bilboard charts at No. 1 for three weeks straight before getting knowcked down to No. 2 with JAY-Z’s 4:44 release. Now, in a strong comeback, Kung Fu Kenny’s album has once again taken its spot at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
DAMN. climbs 2-1 on the latest Billboard 200, clocking a fourth nonconsecutive week at No. 1. The album earned just under 47,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Aug. 10, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 11,000 were in traditional album sales.
Last time DAMN. was at the top spot on the chart was the week ending May 20th. This week’s success of the album marks the second-lowest haul ever for a Number One album on the Billboard 200 — only The Descendants soundtrack, with 42,000 copies in August 2015, sold less and topped the charts, Billboard reports. Still, it’s a great win for Kenny. Congrats!
