The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has given the Nigerian Industrial Standard certificate to the University of Uyo’s table water.
The Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of SON, Mr. Meshailia Dauda, urged the university’s consultancy services unit (the manufacturers of the table water) to maintain the standard of the table water as certified.
Dauda, who was represented by the Senior Inspection Officer from SON, Mrs. Imo Udom, stated that UNIUYO’s table water had met the required standard before the issuance of the qualifying certificate for its continued production.
He urged the company not to deviate from the NIS manufacturing specification.
He said, “The standard must be met, not just once or twice, it must be met continually. I want to say that UNIUYO table water has met the requirements continuously for a number of periods we have come here to check them.
“Not just the quality of the water alone but we have gone round the corner facilities, we have checked them, starting from the raw materials to the quality control.”
Dauda added that a few other table water companies in the state had met the standard and this prompted SON to issue them with the NIS certificate.
