The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission has issued certificates of return to chairmanship and councillorship winners in the Saturday local government election.
The LASIEC Chairman, Justice Olatunde Phillips, at a short programme to mark the event on Monday at the commission’s office in Yaba, congratulated the winners and advised them to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people at the grass roots.
She said, “You belong to a new generation of chairmen and councillors and those who elected you should enjoy the dividends of democracy.”
Phillips said the commission was happy that there were no loss of lives during the poll and commended Lagosians for their cooperation.
The summary of the result showed that the All Progressives Congress swept the poll, while the Peoples Democratic Party and the Accord Party won four councillorship seats and three councillorship seats respectively out of the 377 seats vied for. The APC won 300 seats.
The APC also won the chairmanship seats in all the 57 councils.
