Lecturer Kidnapped By Gunmen While Jogging In University Of Calabar....

A lecturer in the Department of Zoology at the University of Calabar was kidnapped on Friday morning within the school premises. An eyewitness said the lecturer was jogging from the university staff quarters to the Abraham Ordia stadium located within campus when he was accosted by gunmen.

The gunmen shot sporadically into the air to scare people before whisking the lecturer away.

“I suspected the kidnappers were trailing the lecturer as he was jogging. They must have gagged him and carried him into the bush around the area before taking him away. This is just my thinking as I did not see the gunmen with any vehicle,” the eyewitness said.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incident.

She said police will track the abductors and ensure the lecturer’s release from captivity.
