Unbuttoning her heart to a friend over the painful incident, Oniga captured her marital misfortune thus: “Another woman, you won’t believe this, came into the scene and I had no other option than to take my leave”. Continuing, she said; “Although I don’t blame my husband. The woman charmed him and he ceased being the man I married in 1984. I thank God he later realized his mistakes, but I didn’t return to our matrimonial home before he died because of all the pains and trauma I was subjected to as a result of that.
“As a matter of fact, I’m yet to believe that this ugly incident actually happened to me and my three children. My husband used to be very nice, loving and caring, but the woman changed him immediately she came to the scene. I understand that it wasn’t his fault; so I’ve forgiven him. But those pains of yesteryears are still there”. The multiple award winning actress, unknown to many, is also not Yoruba. She’s actually Urhobo; in Delta State. Even though she made her name in the Yoruba sector of our movies industry. Now 56, she got married in 1984, only for it to crumble mysteriously in 1993. Easy going and always fun to be with, before she got herself heavily immersed in Yoruba movies, she had taken part in some English flicks like Broken Chord, Onome, Closed Chapter, Kill or Die and Daybreak. Some of her popular Yoruba works are Owo Blow, Bo Ore Po and many others.
