As the 8th national assembly set to bu inaugurated tomorrow, information available to www.newspunch.org suggests that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has secretly concluded plan to capitalize on the division in the ruling All Progressives congress, APC to grab the coveted Senate Presidency.
According to a PDP Senator-elect, who pleaded anonymity, the PDP has hatched a plan to shock the APC at the 8th senate inauguration tomorrow by presenting a single yet to be named candidate that may eventually win the Senate Presidency, hoping the APC will remain cracked as it is presently.
Our source said; “we will shock the APC tomorrow, all we pray is for them to remain divided as they are. With their rift, which they may likely not resolve before tomorrow, the PDP will definitely emerge as the next President of the Senate”
When quizzed on the fact that an APC candidate is relying on the PDP senator – elects to defeat his party’s anointed candidate, he simply said; “the game is about number, it’s not over until it is over, those expecting us to vote for them when we know we can actually win with the number of senator-elects we have at our disposal should know they may be chasing shadow. We will shock them tomorrow”, he said.
According to a reliable media report, the PDP Senate caucus were meeting at the Nicon Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
Details of the the meeting was sketchy because no member of caucus offered information about their discussions.
It is worthy of note that if really the All progressives Congress remain divided ahead tomorrow’s national assembly leaders election, where APC has 56 Senators and PDP 49, the PDP might win the election if they are votes are intact.
The All progressives Congress had on Saturday elected Ahmed Lawan and George Akume as Senate Presidency and Deputy the candidates respectively in a shadow election. The election which was boycotted by Senator Bukola Saraki, an aspirant and his supporters.
Findings revealed that Senator Bukola Saraki is heavily relying on the PDP Senator-elects to defeat the anointed candidate of his party, APC.
