The meeting which held in Abuja, was originally designed to have all the presidential aspirants and leaders of the party from the North in attendance.
Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Sam Nda-Isaiah however stayed away from the meeting.
A source had said the Tuesday’s meeting was one of the several meetings scheduled to hold to reduce the acrimony which some fear could threaten the party’s chances in the 2015 elections.
The source said “There is nothing unusual about these kinds of meetings at this time.
“It is understandable that Kwankwaso could not attend because he just opened his campaign office earlier today, others could not attend for one reason or another but we will keep trying. You don’t expect to get instant results.”
An enlarged meeting of the party leaders and the aspirants is billed to hold in Abuja on Thursday..
