Survey Says
A study conducted in Pamplona, Spain which ran for over 10 years and involved over 20,000 participants showed that people who drank at least 4 cups of coffee per day had a 64% lower chance of dying than people who rarely drank coffee, or those who never drank coffee.
In addition, people who were at least 45 years of age and drank 2 more cups of coffee per day — for a total of 6 cups of coffee — seemed to have 30% less chance of death, overall.
That sounds good to us. Anything that could make you live longer seems like a good deal.
Coffee isn’t the Bad Guy
There are other positive effects that drinking coffee on a regular basis can have on your health, body and mind. Everyone knows that have a bit of caffeine in your system can help you stay alert, provide more ability to exert effort, and keep you feeling on course.
Gym goes will tell you that drinking coffee before working out will help them feel energized and wake them up to take on their workouts. Because coffee can wake you up, so to speak, you can be more productive during the day. Furthermore, coffee can help reduce inflammation in some people as well.
What Kind of Coffee is Best?
There’s no right or wrong answer here, but if you want to feel awake in the morning and burn more calories at the gym during your workout, obviously drinking decaffeinated coffee is not the right answer.
The study conducted found that people who drank regular caffeinated coffee experienced the lesser risk of dying. It could just be a big coincidence, but many more studies are being done to connect the foods we eat and the beverages we drink with our health, and overall well-being.
