The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo,OndoState chapter of Academic Stuff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) has announced the commencement of indefinite strikein the institution.
The union after its emergency Congress on Thursday said the industrial action became necessary as a result of welfare of the members.
The Secretary of ASUP in the institution, Adeola Obadaye in a statement, said the strike would be total and comprehensive.
He noted that the lecturers cannot continue to work without getting their salaries.
The statement read in part: “Arising from the Emergency Congress of ASUP Rugipo chapter held today Thursday 31st August 2017 at Adekunle Ajasin auditorium, after exhaustively discussed precarious situations of member’s welfare vis-a-vis the Decision Extract to the management dated 9th August 2017.It was thereforeunanimously resolved that ;“All academic activities are hereby suspended indefinitely with immediate effect .“
Monitoring team should be setup by the Union to monitor members for totalcompliance of this indefinite industrial strike .”
