1.) Ooni Of Ife And Olori Wuraola No Longer Together

The union of Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II to Olori Wuraola has crashed.

Olori Wuraola confirmed the separation weeks after media reports emerged that all was not well with their union. It was gathered that she has reverted to her maiden name Zaynab Otiti Obanor.

2.) Kenya Presidential Election Re-run

Just yesterday, September 1, Kenya Supreme Court nullified the election that President Uhuru Kenyatta emerged as winner and ordered a re-run within the next 60 days.

3.) Tertiary Institutions Release Cut-Off Marks

All Nigerian tertiary institutions during the week released their cut-off marks which were contrary to the 120 cut-off mark set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

None of the institutions including polytechnics and colleges of education set the admission marks in respect of JAMB benchmark.

4.) Makurdi Flood

Over 3,000 houses were sacked by the flood disaster in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

The heavy rain which began on Sunday, August 27, has rendered many homeless while President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to send relief materials to the victims.

5.) Evans Admits To Kidnapping

Suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, on Wednesday, August 30, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and kidnapping before a judge of the Ikeja High Court.

Evans and five others were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping. The judge ordered that they should be remanded in Kirikiri Maximum prison while the female stay in Kirikiri female prison.

Evans’ lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje, later said that his client was coerced by the police to admit the crime or he would be killed.

8.) US Sells N181bn Warplanes, Weapons To Nigeria

It was gathered during the week that the headquarters of the United States Department of Defence, the Pentagon, has notified the US Congress of the sale of 12 Super Tucano A-29 ground attack aircraft and weapons to Nigeria to fight the Boko Haram insurgency.

The Pentagon reportedly communicated the sale of the 12 ground attack aircraft valued at $593m (N181bn) to the US Congress on Monday, August 29.
