English Premier League finally resumed with a bang this evening at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal narrowly beat 2015/2016 champions, Leciester City 4-3 in a thrilling opener.
Gunners’ new boy, Alexandre Lacazette got the kind of start he would have hoped for as he notched a debut goal less than two minutes into the game before Okazaki drew the Foxes level few minutes later.
Jamie Vardy put the away side in the driving seat in the 29th minute after Marc Albrighton exploited Granit Xhaka’s woeful pass before Danny Welbeck restored parity on the stroke of halftime.
Eleven minutes into the second half, Vardy silenced the Emirates after a fine corner from Riyad Mahrez.
Arsene Wenger made inspired substitutions by introducing Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey for Rob Holding and Mohammed Elneny respectively in the 67th minute.
Ramsey grabbed the equaliser for the home team in the 83rd minute before Giroud bagged the winning goal in the 85th minute.
The game ended 4-3 in favour of the host.
