The article on the above topic by Prof. Ayo Olukotun in The Punch last Friday refers. The fact is Nigeria has never been uncolonised. The celebrated political independence of 1960 was a mere dramatic show. If not politically, economically, educationally, technologically or industrially, we remain a colony.
Be it the electorate, civil society or the politicians, we have wrong attitudes which we bring into government business.
The case of Chief Obafemi Awolowo often cited is an exception and not the rule. There won’t be a solution until we are truly decolonised. Until then, the journey downhill continues.
