THE Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has described the threat by the Indigenous People of Biafra to stop the November 18 poll in the state as an empty one.
Obiano, who spoke at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development on Monday, said those who issued the threat had no capacity to execute it.
He said this government would crush such miscreants should they dare him.
He asked the people of the state to rise against such troublemakers, adding “We shall all rise up and confront any person or group that attempts to disrupt peace or cause chaos during the election.”
Obiano’s warning came barely 24 hours after the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, visited Ekwulobia community in Aguata Local Government Area of the state and restated that the November 18 poll in the state would not hold.
But Obiano said, “We cannot allow somebody from another state to invade our peaceful state and issue unwelcome directives to us. We will not fold our hands and watch such an individual bring in people from Abia, Enugu and other places to disrupt order in our state.”
“Ignore the empty threats. Go about your lawful business and sleep with both eyes closed. I will keep watch over you with my two eyes open. I will let anyone who dares us know I am from Aguleri.”
The governor said security reports available to him indicated that the architects of the anti-election threat were from outside the state.
