The umbrella body for all indigenes of Osogbo, Osun State, Osogbo Progressive Union, has enjoined the state government to improve on the security of lives and property.
The group expressed worry over the spate of crime in the state and urged the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, to complete ongoing projects.
OPU national President, Rasaq Siyanbola, spoke at the 2017 edition of the Osogbo Oroki Day held at the Osogbo City Stadium, a statement said on Sunday.
“The administration of Aregbesola has given Osogbo a befitting status it deserves as a capital city. We urge the state government to complete the ongoing projects.
“OPU president expressed worry over the spate of crime in Osogbo in recent times and commended the governor and the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, for their prompt efforts in dealing with the ugly situation,” the statement added.
The event was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Lasun Yusuff, the Chief of Staff to Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Alhaji Ajibola Basiru, Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Kolapo Alimi, and the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress in the state, Chief Gboyega Famodun.
