Olufemi Atoyebi, Ibadan
The Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Dr. Femi Olaifa, died at the University College Hospital, Ibadan on Friday after a brief illness.
Confirming his death at a briefing organised by Ibadan high chiefs, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Lekan Balogun, said the deceased was present at a meeting with the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, on the review of the Olubadan chieftaincy declaration of 1957.
Balogun said, “One day, we shall all go to meet our creator. We lost High Chief Olaifa early on Friday and he would be greatly missed. He was with us when we met the governor on Monday and he was supposed to be at today’s meeting, but we lost him. May God grant him eternal rest.”
Olaifa was one of the high chiefs expected to be elevated to the position of a king in Ibadan, according to the report of the review commission. He served as a minister and special adviser
