Olufemi Atoyebi, Ibadan
The Otun Balogun of Ibadan land, Dr Femi Olaifa, on Friday died after a brief illness at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
Confirming his death at a briefing organised by Ibadan high chiefs, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Senator Lekan Balogun, said that the deceased was present at a meeting with the Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi on the review of the Olubadan chieftaincy declaration of 1957.
Balogun said, “One day, we shall all go to meet our creator. We lost High Chief Olaifa early on Friday and he would be greatly missed. He was with us when we met the governor on Monday and he was at the meeting today. But we lost him. May God grant him eternal rest.”
Olaifa was to be among the high chiefs that are to be elevated to kings in Ibadan according to the report of the review commission. He served as a minister and special adviser under the Sheu Sahagari administration. The deceased will be buried in Ibadan on Saturday.
