Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has warned individuals preparing to embark on a holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia to always use a special wristband with security features given to them during the exercise to avoid being apprehended.
The governor, who made the appeal in Lafia, the state capital, on Friday during a ceremony held for the 1,120 intending pilgrims, said the use of the security device was very important.
Represented by his deputy, Mr. Silas Agara, the governor said, “Anyone who flouts this directive can be sanctioned, arrested and even face deportation. That is why it is very imperative that you always put on the security wristband to avoid any unfortunate circumstance.
“We have also made arrangements for Nigerians to safely partake in the ‘stoning the devil exercise’ at Jabrat. This is to avoid a reoccurrence of the unfortunate stampede that took place two years ago which resulted in the loss of many lives.”
