The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Joseph Fuwape, has told the fifth batch of students for the exchange programme between the institution and the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, United States of America, to be good ambassadors of the university, the nation, and their families.
The VC said this on Monday during a departure event organised for six students going on the programme.
The students are Odewale Tobiloba, Tokode Ayodeji and Olaborode Samuel. Others are Adetoyese Mubarak, Arigbede Muyiwa and Jegede Abiola.
According to Fuwape, a Memorandum of Understanding signed with FAMU in 2013 for research, collaboration and exchange programme involves the selection of undergraduates with CPGA of not less than 3.0 from relevant departments to complete their fifth year of undergraduate at FAMU but earn a FUTA degree. He added that the students thereafter had the opportunity to study for their master’s programme at the American university.
Fuwape also appealed to parents of the students not to relent in supporting them financially and emotionally.
Corroborating the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar and Director, International Office, Mr. Richard Arifalo and Prof. Thomas Ofuya, congratulated the students and urged them to be worthy ambassadors of FUTA.
