SPORTS minister Solomon Dalung has commended the International Paralympic Committee for the three-day Para-Powerlifting seminar /workshop in Lagos last week.
Dalung, who was represented by a director in the sports ministry Tayo Oreweme, also praised the sponsors of the workshop AGITOS Foundation for considering Nigeria good enough to host the event, which featured 14 countries.
She said Nigeria would continue to extend her hands of fellowship to other Africa countries and would strive to ensure that more of such developmental programmes were brought to the continent.
The sports chief said Africa had suffered much pain in global sports politics and called on the continent to rise to the challenge.
Oreweme appealed to the athletes and coaches to be more focused as Nigeria seeks to maintain its frontline position in Africa.
The senior manager of AGITOS Foundation, Jose Cabo, said the foundation, as powered by Toyota, would be back next year with a similar programme in para-athletics with a competition attached.
President of the World Para-Powerlifting Federation John Amos commended the hospitality of Nigerians.
Sixty officials from Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Nigeria took part in the event.
