The Lead Pastor of Life Anchor Ministry International, Pastor Bayo Akinjiyan, has said that churches have more roles to play in the betterment of Nigeria. He also called on church leaders and Christians in general to demonstrate Christ through their lifestyles, saying that would make the message easier to preach.
Speaking during the third anniversary of the church, Akinjiyan said even though the church had always been at the forefront of national development and nation building, especially in the areas of education, health, empowerment and bringing God into the nation, there was more to be done.
He said, “There is still a lot of room for improvement in a way that the church should be more relevant to the society. A bit has to do with empowering the people so they would be less dependent on the government and they would be able to do things for themselves.
“Government at all levels should also improve in the area of giving back to the society so that the present negative impression that is being peddled in some quarters that the church only knows how to take would be changed. Thus, people would see the church as an institution that is relevant to the people and making their lives better.
“And again as leaders, we need to lead by example. We should not just preach. Bible says ‘Blessed are you if you fear and do those things.’ It’s not just the preaching but by manner of our lifestyles.”
He said the church had been able to empower over 2,500 persons including non-members of the church and Muslims, adding that the church would not stop empowering the people.
