The Christian Association of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter; and a nongovernmental organisation, the Anambra Consensus Project, on Tuesday signed a pact to work together to produce the next governor of the state.
They promised to organise what they call a “deliverance rally” on September 15 for governorship aspirants in the state.
The Chairman of CAN Anambra State Chapter, Apostle Tim Okpala; and President of ACP, Dr. Emeka Eze, disclosed this at a joint press conference in Awka, Anambra State, on Tuesday.
In a 10-pact agreement that the two leaders signed, they maintained that “true Christian leadership” must be enthroned in the state.
They said their working relationship with respect to the 2017 governorship election was to ensure that political parties and candidates avoid violence and campaigns of calumny while the exercise lasts.
“It is our utmost wish to ensure that a good leader would be installed in the state. The leader must have the will power to propel the Christian faith, irrespective of religious denomination, through evangelism and empowerment of the people.”
They noted that CAN and ACP had the interest of Anambra State at heart and were striving to enthrone “continual peace, harmony, togetherness, love, natural progress and positive human development, with a view to heralding the overall economic growth, state-wide environmental development and prosperity of the state.
