The Reds have impressed in pre-season, and continued their fine form by making light work of Carlo Ancelotti’s out-of-form side.
Liverpool started on the front foot, and excellent work from Roberto Firmino saw him steal the ball in Bayern’s half before feeding it to Sadio Mane. The winger continued his run into the area, and he fired a low strike into the far corner of Sven Ulreich’s goal.
10 minutes before half-time summer signing Mohamed Salah doubled Liverpool’s lead, heading into the empty net after Mane and Alberto Moreno had combined for the latter to fire a shot which Ulreich deflected into the Egyptian winger’s path.
A host of changes made in the second period slowed the game down, but Jurgen Klopp’s side continued to press for a third goal.
And they thought they had it when substitute Ryan Kent broke into the area after fine work on the left flank. He pulled the ball back for Marko Grujic to fire home, though the strike was disallowed for offside as Adam Lallana was interfering with goalkeeper Ulreich.
But the third goal did come, Daniel Sturridge sending an exquisite chip over Ulreich in the final 10 minutes.
However, there was a worry for Klopp as the England striker pulled up with an injury while celebrating his goal, and he had to be replaced in the dying stages.
The Reds will now play Atletico Madrid in the Audi Cup final as they look to cap their pre-season with a second piece of silverware, following their victory in the Premier League Asia Trophy last month.
