1000 youths mobilised for security in Anambra APC primary

Tony Okafor, Awka

No fewer than 1000 youths in Anambra State will provide security in the primary election of the All Progressives Congress taking place in the state on Saturday(today)

The State Coordinator of the youths under the aegis of Coalition of Youth Organisations in the state, Mr Onyebuchi Okoli, disclosed this at a press conference in Awka, Anambra State.

He said the youths in the state had to take the decision because of the fracas that characterised the primary of a certain party in the state last week where one person died and several others wounded.

Okoli said such situation would no longer be tolerated, warning youths in the state being sponsored by politicians to foment trouble on the occasion to have a rethink, while asking parents to monitor the whereabouts of their children and wards.

Their address read in part, “Coalition of youth organisations in Anambra State have come together  to warn aspirants planning chaos if they don’t win ticket, that their plans will not be tolerated in the state

“ We’re warning youths sponsored for such exercise to stay away from the venue as force will meet with force, and parents should warn their wards too.

“We know all aspirants and their supporters, so we will also know those who come out for trouble and will work with security operatives to arrest not only them but their sponsors.

“Election is not  do or die, and Anambra Youths are not ready to allow any individual bring terror to the state, so it must remain a peaceful exercise

“ The warning  is not only for APC primaries, but subsequent ones after Saturday .

“On Saturday, 1,000 youths will converge at venue of the primaries to monitor the exercise, and will deal with anybody who tries anything to cause chaos during or after the exercise

“We are motivated to do this based on the life that was lost during UPP primaries.”
