Olufemi Atoyebi, Ibadan

The Fadama Additional Financing in Oyo State will spend between N140m and N200m on 200 unemployed graduates, who are currently undergoing training under the Fadama Graduate Unemployed Youths and Women Support scheme in the state.

The State Coordinator, Fadama, Nath Olayinka, said that the training would run for two weeks at the College of Agriculture, Igboora; Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso; and Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Moor Plantation, Ibadan.

He said that the project was initiated by the Federal Government with the support of the state government to empower unemployed graduates who indicated interest in agriculture.

Three hundred graduates were chosen for the scheme but the best 200 candidates will enjoy the financial support to take off, as each of them will be given between N700,000 and N1m, according to Olayinka.

At the opening of the training in Ibadan on Wednesday, the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Oyewole Oyewumi, said the project had a close link with the agenda of Governor Abiola Ajimobi to create jobs through agricultural development.
