A Lagos Federal High Court, on Tuesday, granted a final forfeiture of the $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.2m found in Ikoyi apartment by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Justice Hassan who gave the order after the huge funds remained unclaimed, ruled that the humongous cash be forfeited to the Federal Government.
Recall that the discovery of the huge sum had sparked controversy with the Rivers State government claiming and National Intelligent Agency, NIA allegedly claiming ownership but never came out to claim ownership according to the law.
The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike had claimed that he had evidence showing that the money belonged to his state and at the right time he will make the evidence public.
