Armed Bandits Mobbed By Angry Crowd In Gwarinpa, Abuja....

A mob has beaten up two suspected armed bandits after they allegedly stabbed and robbed a tricycle operator in Gwarinpa. A police source said the incident happened on Tuesday, and that the suspects sustained injuries before they were rescued by the police.

The source said the tricycle operator, identified only as Musa, was robbed at about 3:00a.m. where he slept in company of his colleagues in a compound in Galadima Village near Charly Boy bus stop.

“The suspects woke him up, collected his handset and N2, 000 and also stabbed him on his shoulder,” the police source said.

The source said the man raised an alarm thereby waking other tricycle operators in the compound who ran after the suspects.

“His colleagues woke up and caught the suspects,” the source said, adding that they had started beating them before policemen arrived.

The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated and had been discharged.

He said the suspects, whom he identified as Umar and Abdulkadir, both 21 years old, were also taken to hospital for medical treatment.

“We are transferring them to the State CID for discreet investigation,” he said.
