A huge brawl marred the Russian Cup final as Lokomotiv Moscow and FC Ural Yekaterinburg players began fighting on the pitch.
A video footage shows the moment an argument occurs between two rival players in stoppage time before suddenly the situation gets out of hand. It isn’t long before punches and kicks are thrown as the referee tries his best to get between the footballers to break up the violence.
But there is little he can do, and instead can only watch as more and more players get involved in the fighting, including subs running onto the pitch. Eventually some of the players can be seen calming down their teammates and after the referee shows four red cards – two for each team – the brawl ceases.
Igor Denisov broke the deadlock in the 76th minute before Alexei Miranchuk put the game to bed not long before the stoppage time brawl. The game was staged at Sochi’s Fisht Stadium, which is set to be used during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
