Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has revealed he tried to convince Paul Pogba to join him at the Etihad before the French midfielder’s move to Manchester United.
Pogba returned to the Old Trafford last summer for a world record fee of £89million, having left the club as a youngster to join Juventus where he became a fan favourite due to his brilliant displays in the Serie A.
Toure has admitted to be an admirer of the 23-year-old’s qualities and confessed he tried to lure to join at Manchester City while he was playing for Juventus.
The 33-year-old said: ‘He (Pogba) is a good lad,
‘He’s clever and I’m a bit disappointed because I spoke with him in the past and I wanted him to come to City but it didn’t happen.’
Paul Pogba has shown he has got real quality in his appearances so far for Manchester United, but has also been criticised for his below par performances in some matches this season. He is expected to return to action in United’s Europa League semifinal fixture against Celta Vigo next Thursday after missing the Manchester Derby due an injury.
