Moment Suicide Bomber Blows Himself Up After Being Asked To Walk Through Metal Detector. Photos

A sickening footage has emerged showing the moment a suspected suicide bomber blew himself up outside a church on Palm Sunday. The bomber, wearing a brown jacket with a blue sweater tied over his shoulders, is seen approaching the gates of a Coptic cathedral in Alexandria, Egypt.

CCTV footage shows he is turned away by security and asked to walk through a metal detector to the side of the church entrance.

The man then walks towards the metal detector then takes a step back before an explosion erupts.

Egypt's Ministry of Health said 16 people were killed, including three police officers, and 41 injured.

The explosion came just hours after a bombing rocked a Coptic church in Tanta, killing at least 27 people and injuring 78.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the two bomb blasts which shook the country as worshippers celebrated Palm Sunday.

Around 30 worshippers are thought to have been killed and at least 78 injured after a bomb exploded inside a church in Tanta during a televised service .
