John Mikel Obi, Super Eagles captain, has scored his first Chinese Super League goal for his club, Tianjin Teda. Tianjin Teda on Sunday defeated Chongqing Lifan 2-0 at the Tianjin Tuanbo football stadium.
Captain Mikel put Tianjin Teda ahead in the 48th minute after Xiaofei Deng had parried Mbaye Diagne’s initial shot.
Goran Milovic scored an own goal from Yongchi Lei’s cross into the box in the 82nd minute.
Brown Ideye also featured for Tianjin Teda but was substituted in the 65th minute.
The game saw the home team enjoy more possession than the visitors.
