Former Senate President, Dr Ken Nnamani has advised members of IPOB to embrace only dialogue and political solution, and not agitation to achieve self-determination for Ndigbo. Nnamani made the comment while speaking at the launching of a book, titled, “The Audacity of Power and The Nigeria Presidency” in Abuja on Thursday, April 27.
Nnamani canvassed for the restructuring of the country, adding that people stand a better chance to benefit from restructuring rather than engaging in agitation that could easily lead to deaths.
His words: “Those of us from South East had nothing to be ashamed of, our case was reviewed and still going under construction as a building. “Some other places that never experienced war are not doing better than us. I am one of the last persons that will encourage anybody to agitate for another war.
“If you look at the structures here in Abuja, the notable hotels and structures, statistically speaking belong to the southerners and that tells you how enterprising our people are.
“I was in Abeokuta recently for the launch of a book called the “Yoruba Agenda.” The book was about restructuring and not exiting from the union. Each geopolitical zone should develop at its own pace. Our people should take that message home. “Igbos fought Biafran war but go back to Igbo land and see the business and other developmental activities going on there.
I want to discourage our people from the idea of having our young ones who ought to be in school littered all over streets agitating for Biafra.”
Nnamani stated that the Igbos can compete favourably with other regions. He made reference to the Jews who are not up to five percent of population of the United States but are politically efficient in the scheme of things in the country. Nnamani comments will possibly not go down well with IPOB. The group recently vowed to banish Igbos opposed to their agitation from Igbo land.
On Wednesday April 26, IPOB annouced that it may be forced to stop the publicity secretary of Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Joe Igbokwe, from setting his foot in Igboland following his incessant anti- Biafra comments.
Meanwhile, IPOB has condemned the bail conditions granted its incarcerated leader, Nnamdi Kanu by Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja Federal High Court. In a statement by its spokespersons, the group claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari wrote the bail conditions and handed them over to Justice Nyako who read them in court.
