A troubled Chinese youngster, from southwest China’s Chongqing municipality, committed suicide by jumping 20 floors to his death after his father banned him from watching TV, according to a notice posted by the local police’s official Weibo account. The video clip, which has been shared online, shows the boy falling down and smashing into a parked car beneath his family’s apartment in Dazu district.
His devastated relatives as well as the police soon rushed to the scene. Authorities are continuing to handle the incident, according to the police notice.
The tragedy has sparked heated discussion among Chinese netizens. While some blame the boy’s parents for being too strict, others have condemned China's exam-oriented education system and a culture of ignoring mental health problems among young people.
