Photos; World's Smallest Rolls-Royce Lets Sick Children Drive Themselves To Hospital In Style

Rolls-Royce has unveiled a tiny new luxury car so children in hospital can drive themselves to the operating theatre for surgery in style. The iconic motor manufacturer developed the miniature electric vehicle to help reduce young patients' anxiety ahead of operations.

The Rolls-Royce SRH takes its name from St Richard's Hospital paediatric day surgery unit in the luxury car brand's home city of Chichester, West Sussex.

Children facing surgery will be able drive the bespoke single-seat SRH themselves to the theatre, travelling through the paediatric corridors lined with mock traffic signs.

The SRH, which has a top speed of 10mph, is powered by a 24-volt gel battery that propels the car with the same gentle quietness as Rolls-Royce's famed V12 engines.

The manufacturing team spent more than 400 hours of their own time developing and hand-crafting the car, with the aim of soothing children's nerves before surgery.
