Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has said he wouldn’t have sanctioned the sales of Danny Welbeck, Angel Di Maria and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, if he was in charge of the club when they left.
All three players left Old Trafford with the approval of Mourinho’s predecessor, Louis van Gaal.
“Manchester United sold players that I would never sell and bought players that I would never buy,” Mourinho told the BBC in a preview of an interview aired on Thursday night.
Pressed by host Gary Lineker which players he would have liked to keep, Mourinho said: “I would never have sold Di Maria, Chicharito, Danny Welbeck – never, no chance.”
Arsenal signed Welbeck, while Di Maria left for Paris Saint-Germain after only one season.
Hernandez joined Bayer Leverkusen in a cut-price deal.
