He said two young men were sitting at the back of the taxi, while a lady was sitting in front and shortly after Idu forest the driver stopped, pretending to check his vehicle when one of the suspected ‘one chance’ thieves brought a pistol and asked the woman to hand over her handbag to him.
“I was on my way to Zuba to buy oranges when I came across the woman standing by the roadside weeping. She flagged down our vehicle, we stopped and picked her and she started narrating the incident.
“She said her hand bag containing N122, 000 was taken away by suspected one chance,” he said.
When contacted, the FCT Police Command’s public relations officer, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said the command was not aware of the incident, but that he would make enquiries.
“Although, the police at Mabushi division have been able to arrest two suspected one chance operatives with their operational vehicles, including some cash, we don’t know if they are the ones,” he said.
He said the FCT Police Command has been intensifying efforts to get rid of ‘one chance’ thieves within the territory and its environs.
