Horrified football players were left screaming for their lives when their plane door suddenly blew open during take-off. The squad of Racing de Avellaneda were flying home from their defeat against fellow Argentine side Club Atlético Belgrano when the terrifying incident occurred on Sunday.

Mobile phone footage filmed inside the cabin shows the small propeller plane gathering speed at is hurtles along the runway.

Thankfully, disaster was averted and the captain abandoned take-off.

The emergency door was fixed and the team made it safely home to Buenos Aires on the second attempt.
