Reacting to a report carried in Saturday Sun, Tsav faulted claims that President Muhammadu Buhari was singling out Dasuki for investigations, an act which they said bordered on their past relationship.
According to him, “the gravity of the crime allegedly committed by Dasuki can only be imagined than described. He said the money which was meant for the fight against insurgency to finance the campaign of President Goodluck Jonathan.
“As a result of this alleged act, many innocent Nigerians lost their lives, many children not only missed going to schools, but were orphaned.”
He insisted that Buhari was doing the right thing in his fight against corruption and by going after the former NSA even as he remarked that “all over the world, corruption fights fiercely all those who fight it.”
He expressed worry over the alarm raised by Rev. Fr. Njike Mbaka over the threat to the life of the President, warning that his alarm should not be misplaced given the fact that there could be many corrupt politicians around Buhari who will stop at nothing to frustrate him.
He urged Nigerians to unite in prayers for Buhari’s safety and for him to successfully save the country from the grip of corruption.
Meanwhile, a former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani- Kayode, has said, “all hell will break loose” if some high profile detainees in the country are harmed in any way.
In a message posted on his Facebook page, Mr. Fani-Kayode said, “… President Buhari and his government should please take note of the following:
“Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, Colonel Sambo Dasuki and Mr. Nnamdi Kanu must not be beaten, tortured, poisoned or murdered whilst they are in your custody or else all hell will break loose.”
Dasuki, who is facing trial for allegedly diverting and sharing over $2.1 billion meant for arms procurement to politicians and cronies, was on Wednesday re-arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) after he was granted bail by three courts.
Mr. Kanu, who is leader of IPOB and spearheading the quest for an independent nation of Biafra, was earlier granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja, but he was also re-arrested by the DSS, which slammed a fresh charge of treasonable felony against him.
Mr. El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (aka Shiites), is being held by the police as yet unknown number of his followers were killed in a clash with soldiers in Zaria.
Speaking during his first Presidential Media Chat in Abuja last Wednesday, Buhari said Dasuki and Kanu cannot be allowed to enjoy freedom due to the enormity of their offences.
He declined comments on El-Zakzaky, saying he would only do so after receiving reports of investigation being conducted by the Army and the Kaduna State Government.
Mr. Fani-Kayode recently wrote an open letter to President Buhari, accusing him of making ‘contradictory’ and ‘patently dishonest’ assertions.
The former minister told the President: “Your penchant for blaming your failings in this regard on the previous administration is simply nauseating and it does not serve you well.
“You continuously contradict yourself when it comes to this matter and frankly, such flip flops are unworthy of the office that you presently occupy.
“We, your subjects, look up to you for consistency, strength, unequivocal commitment, a firm resolve and the “leadership from the front” that you promised during your presidential campaign in this war. We do not want and neither do we need doublespeak, lame excuses and buck-passing,” he said..
