The President of the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) and editor-in-chief of Thisday newspaper, Nduka Obaigbena has mentioned that the sum of N50 million was given to President Muhammad Buhari Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina-led Nigeria Guild of Editor out of the N620 million he received from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki.
Mr. Femi Adesina was the President of Nigeria Guild of Editor before his appointment by President Buhari shortly after 2015 presidential election.
Mr. Nduka Obaigbena had on Monday alleged that the Nigerian Guild of Editors, whom Femi Adesina led before his apresent appointment collected N50 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser, in a further widening of the arms purchase scandal.
Since the revelation was made, some Nigerians have been demanding the resignation and interrogation of Adesina , who was the president of the Guild when the payment was allegedly made.
But speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Adesina said the guild will be in the best position to respond to Obaigbena’s claim.
“Please direct all questions to the Nigerian Guild of Editors. But I believe the body will soon issue a statement on what actually transpired” he said..
