I learned that last week, Former Governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke stealthily traveled to Kano State to implored an eminent traditional ruler to appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to give him a soft landing over the investigation by EFCC of his tenure as Governor of Cross River State (2007-2015) and Minister of Power and Steel of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (2003-2007).
How are the mighty falling!
In an event held at the Cultural Centre, Calabar sometimes in January 2015 to mark the formal presentation of the then governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ben Ayade, Imoke inappropriately seized the opportunity to launched a tirade of hatred campaign and attack on the person of the then General Muhammadu Buhari and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress to the lowly and ridiculous extent of calling now President Buhari, a senile old man who is incapable of leading the country.
Imoke even frivolously and inhumanely made issue of an incident that happened when President Buhari nearly stumbled while trying to climb the campaign podium erected at a Primary School in Calabar (after Imoke had denied the APC presidential candidate the use of the Calabar Stadium where he was originally billed to stage his rally).
Imoke also descended heavily on the National Chairman of the APC and dismissed him as a senile old man.
But today Imoke has become an ordinary citizen he is truly coming down from his haughty former self. He is eating on his humble pie.
