Mavin record act Sidney Onoriode Esiri popularly known as Dr. Sid in this exclusive interview with Hiphop world magazine talks about music, passion, movies, new video “Last bus stop” and urges all followers of the defunct Mo’hits group to analyse everything they’ve heard so far from different parties and judge who really separated the group.
Read along.
HHWM: Nice to have you here.
DR SID: Nice to be here.
HHWM: You just dropped a video to your song “Last Bus stop”, can you tell us the concept and inspiration behind it.
DR SID: It was just a video to share the experience of my wedding, obviously it was one of the best days of my life, and a lot of people did not get to see or be a part of the wedding and I thought that sharing something like that would normally inspire people that “Don’t get it twisted, love is beautiful thing”. It would show them what it’s like to have such a day and hopefully aspire to have one of their own.
HHWM:  That’s cool, you just finished film school, how was it there?
DR SID: Intense
HHWM: What was the duration of the course?
DR SID: I took an eight weeks course, I was there for about four months. It was very intense, I was shooting every week. Apparently what they had done is that they had taken a one year course and tried to compress it into eight weeks, so a very intense course, I definitely learnt a lot.
HHWM: So should we be expecting more of Dr Sid in the movies?
DR SID: No doubt
HHWM: Are you diverting to the movie sector of the entertainment industry?
DR SID: I am an entertainer, so I entertain with music and I believe that in every aspect of life, whatever your passion is, you should make attempts to develop yourself and get some form of training or education in whatever you are trying to do. I have always had a passion for movies and television so I decide to get training about it, maybe I’ll shoot some music videos, make some short films.
HHWM: There was a rumour that you were the one behind the split in MOHITS, do you have any comments?
DR SID:  If it was a rumour, then it’s a rumour. I’ll just ask anybody to use their own church mind. Whatever you feel, that’s what it is.
HHWM: your latest video ‘’last bus stop” concept was similar to Tuface’s “Rainbow”, in which he included clips from his wedding, is he an inspiration?
DR SID: First of all, I didn’t see it and I don’t know about it, but if they feel I was copying Tuface, it’s an honour to copy Tuface now. Last Bus stop is a song released on my Album in 2013, I had always had the intentions of doing that. It’s a wedding song, why would I use another person’s wedding, or go and shoot fake wedding, when I have a real wedding.
HHWM: Let’s move on to politics, did you vote?
DR SID: I don’t want to talk about politics, I try to leave politics for politicians.
HHWM: What should we be expecting from you?
DR SID: More music, more videos.
HHWM: Pleasure talking to you.
DR. SID: Bless, same here
