The massive looting, corruption, fraud and graft that took place in Cross River State from May 2007 to 29th May 2015 under the leadership of Liyel Imoke was unprecedented in the history of the State.
Every heritage and monument bequeathed to the State by the Founding Fathers of the State have been looted and sold under the corrupt ridden and inept regime of Liyel Imoke.
One of the monuments mindlessly sold is the architectural masterpiece the Cultural Centre, Calabar. This monument was built in the 1970s by the regime of late Brigadier General Jacob Udoka Eusene, the first Military Governor of the defunct South Eastern State (Cross River State).
The Cultural Centre, Calabar was sold to Artee Nigeria Limited of Plot 1, Afprint premises, Oshodi Apapa Expressway, Isolo, Lagos (+2341775770; +234 (0) 805 749 5266 & +234(0) 805 749 5206) for more than N300 Million (Three Hundred Million Naira) without remittance to the Treasury of the Government of Cross River State.
I, vividly remembered that I raised an alarm in an article I wrote on elombah.com , an online new agency titled “Who Sold the Cultural Centre, Calabar to Shoprite?” about this sale as far back as the 9th November, 2013 but as usual everybody buried his or her head inside the ground.
