The former Sperker’s step-mother reportedly died today January 3, 2015 during her daughter’s wedding, an event she was eagerly looking forward to and had even planned elaborately for.
Reports say she had been ill and was in coma for days prior to her demise.
Adunni, in her early 50s passed on early this morning, barely few hours to her daughter’s wedding proceeding at The Events, Ali Balogun Street, Agidingbi, Ikeja, lagos.
“You can see the mood here. Iyalode died early this morning, 6:05am to be precise but we don’t want to break the news formally yet. We want the wedding to proceed. it is the couple’s day and we have to respect them.” a family source disclosed during the wedding
Some guests oblivious of the passage started gathering as early as 8:00 am at the venue in hues of aso ebi for the nuptial between Mopelola Zeenat Bankole and Femi Sharafadeen Jatto. Meanwhile, Adunni’s step- son, a former Speaker of the House of Reps, Dimeji Bankole is in attendance with her dad, Alhaji Suara Alani Bankole and the bride’s grandmother.
Shocked by the news, some friends of the late socialite turned back in pensive mood. A reliable family source hinted her body has since been deposited in a mortuary. Adunni Bankole, a foremost businesswoman with a chain of stores, Sublime Group, formerly on Opebi Street, Ikeja, Lagos, hailed from Owu, Ogun State and married a First Republic politician, Chief Alani Bankole, father of Dimeji Bankole.
Shortly after the traditional wedding, the bride’s father, Chief Alani Bankole went round to thank guests and quietly took his leave accompanied to his car by Dimeji who returned to the wedding hall for the reception.
