Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has been handed a touchline ban for the Champions League group phase next season, according to Supersport.
The ban was punishment for Simeone attacking Real Madrid centre back Rapheal Varane after Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty that sealed it for the eventual champions.
Varane had kicked the ball towards Simeone after the penalty, an act that infuriated Simeone and caused him to sprint towards him on the pitch.
Even after he was sent to the stands by referee Bjorn Kuipers, Simeone turned back to tell Varane: “I’ll see you in the tunnel.”
